So today was my very first full day in Puerto Rico (I actually got in at 10 pm last night but that doesn't count). I still can't believe I am here and going to be here for 9 months; that just seems crazy. I woke up, met all the Sisters from Monasterio Santa Escolastica, which I have to say are wonderful women that have made this place feel like home already. Then we had lunch, time to unpack most of my things, evening prayer, dinner, and mass. It really is different going to a spanish mass and an english one. It's been years since I've gone to a spanish mass and was pretty surprised I still remembered most of the prayers. I found it pretty hard to concentrate since the mass I went to is located next to a Community Center where a wedding was taking place and reggaeton was playing so loud we could hear it. But my favorite part was when I saw a dog walking down the isle (the mass I attended had all its doors and windows open because it was so hot). Then it was even funnier when an ex-nun was trying to kick the dog out and it started barking. So what do you know, I don't only giggle in Liturgy of the Hours (prayers) but I also laugh during mass, shame on me.
Any who, on a different note, I had coffee this morning and OMG, it is pretty pretty strong and I'm a "caffetera". In addition to my new experiences I have to say that on my way over here, I was talking to Ashley on the plane and was like, "Imagine we land and then there's a hurricane?...lmao" Yeah I thought it was pretty funny going from MSP (Minneapolis/St. Paul airport) to DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) till I saw the weather forecast in DFW, saying that there is "Hurricane Earl" on the Central Atlantic Ocean on its way towards Puerto Rico... FML! So that might be a new experience. As of now we've heard that it is going to be a tropical storm, but we still prepared for a hurricane. Whatever it is, its suppose to arrive sometime tomorrow.
I really hope its just a tropical storm but deep down inside I kinda do wish I get to experience a hurricane (level 1 with no wind please..). I mean I've experienced earthquakes and have been in towns where tornados have touched ground, twice. I think I'd be nice to add hurricanes to that experience. I know its a little crazy. I believe that is all for today, so bu-bye for now.
Thats hilarious! Only somewhere like Puerto Rico would you be in Mass and hear Reggeaton lol oh and the dosg of course it would happen in a Latino country- hilarious! =D
